Life Check In
Just a quick check in as we have not had a Newsletter for a while.
I write this Newsletter April 30th, two days after my 79th birthday! Which is a milestone that I never really thought about! The 9’s ALWAYS bothered me…..29, 39, 49, 59, 69, and now here we are at 79! They all bothered me because I knew the next birthday I would be entering a NEW decade!
When I turned 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, I was fine!
BUT 80!!!!! That’s a REALLY BIG NUMBER!!!! LOL
All kidding aside I am truly blessed and grateful to be here and look forward to my 80th birthday! I think I’ll start planning my party now!
My friend Missy told me about her friend, who pryer to her 50 birthday, decided she would find something new to learn each month. She found some local libraries and schools offer classes to learn new things….like a painting class, learning how to do the Fox Trot, making jewelry etc. So, I will be looking into trying something I’ve never done before each month and I’ll keep you posted as to how that goes.
I am truly blessed as my days are full! I start every morning with church then a group of us “seniors” go to Dunkin Donuts to have coffee and solve all the problems of the world. There are about 8 to 14 of us seniors on any given day and 6 of us have lost a spouse. The day can be long and lonely without the interaction and socialization with others, so that time we have together each morning is so important. We share our joys and troubles with each other and before you know it is around 10:00/10:30 am and one by one we leave to run our errands before returning home. Some of us go home to an empty house…..so the social time we have each morning is really needed.
When I return home every day I thank God for each one of them….they are a blessing in my life. I don’t know what I would do each day without them.
As many of you know, Joe (Joseph) and I have been dating. Both our spouses passed in 2021 just 8 months apart. Joe and I were in the same Bereavement Group at our church, along with several others and continued to see each other at Senior events. Then one evening after church he invited me out to “get a bite to eat” and the rest is history. We are now “going steady!” Life is good…..
Dena and I continue to go to the gym once a week to work out with our personal trainer, Anthony. But I found that I needed to do more than exercise 1 day a week, so I joined the Jewish Community Center near me because they have Tai Chi Classes. The instructor, Morris, is really good! They offer the class 4 days a week so I try to go to the gym 1 day a week and then do Tai Chi 3 days a week! I have to tell you I am so tired every night and sleep well!
I will keep you all posted on my adventures coming up. Joe and I have some trips planned. I’ll also be looking into some new things to learn each month, that I never did before, and continue doing my Tai Chi!
I pray for you all….that God will watch over you and keep you safe and well.
